History not kind to Dubya . . . is a surprise to some?

It should come as no surprise to those of you who have not been sleep-walking through the past 7 years that an informal survey of 109 presidential historians finds that 98% of them believe that George Bush is the single worst U.S. President in history.

The article covering this survey is published in U.S. News and World Report.

What I find most interesting are the comments following the article by readers who obviously think the Bush Presidency has been successful. You will find the typical litany of Argument ad Hominem (historians are all Liberal), Non Sequitor (bet they said the same thing about Lincoln before his Presidency was over), and syllogistic thinking (Bush's tax policies gave the people who pay the most taxes the biggest "break", therefore his tax policies are fair).

If anyone wonders why Obama's Bitter-gate (sorry Chris, just had to go there) has exploded into such a feeding frenzy, just read the comments in U.S. News and World Report following this initial assessment of Bush's Presidency. This type of non-sensical thinking and argumentation does not bode well for the future . . . just when we were set to have a real opportunity for change in this country, the United States will likely continue to devolve into historical irrelevance as this century unfolds.

It all semed so easy to put the previous cynicism to rest when Obama surged forward in February of this year on a tide of support by "the little people". One can only help but feel at times that it was pure audacity to hope that the Dark Ages, Part II, were not here to stay; was it really wishful thinking to hope that another Renaissance, an Age of Reason if you will, would inevitably follow?

Thus, the name of this website seems rather apt at this point . . .
